We used Structural Systems Hawaii to lift and stabilize our house foundation on Kalaheo Hillside in Kailua. We ultimately had 15 Micropiles installed, lifted the house, had Uretek foam injected to fill the gaps under the foundation where it had been lifted, and injected Condor clay stabilizer under the house to halt the movement of the clay soil.Although they do huge commercial jobs, it was a huge and expensive job for us yet they treated us with as much priority and importance as any of their jobs. They did a great job and I would highly recommend all of the things they did and this company for this kind of work.We have owned our house for 25 years and repeatedly had to fix the floors, walls, and other things because of the clay soil and ongoing ground movement. Even though we knew about the ground movement on Kalaheo Hillside when we bought the house, I thought that after 40 years it would have settled and not move anymore. Unfortunately I was wrong as clay soil expands when it gets wet and shrinks when it dries and every year the doors and cabinets would stick and and the foundation dropped about 5 inches from one side of the house to the other. That is a lot but it was liveable and we just made repairs as needed and lived with it for all those years until recently when it seemed to have gotten worse. The whole back of the house foundation had cracked and dropped causing the floor to separate and one of the sliding glass doors to almost come out of its frame. I got tired of making yearly repairs and wanted to do something more permanent so we got estimates from the 3 big foundation stabilization companies, Structural Systems, Anchor Systems, and Foundation Systems.Anchor Systems was great and was able to give us an estimate without a soils engineering soils study. Nevertheless they were ultimately going to have to do the soils study before actually doing the work.At first Structural Systems Hawai’i wouldn’t give us an estimate without the soils study but after talking with the owner, Damien Enright, he did give us an estimate and not only matched the price of Anchor Systems Hawai’i but also convinced me of why their company was the better choice.Structural Systems Hawaii has their own Micropile attachment brackets that they use that allow for jacking up of the house. They also have the Uretek foam to fill in the gaps after lifting and offer the Condor clay stabilizer to stop the clay from absorbing water in the winter and drying out in the summer. At the time, Anchor Systems Hawaii could do the Micropiles but not do any of the other things we had done. So, if you have similar problems and are looking to do work like this, I highly recommend Structural Systems Hawaii. It is not cheap, it will take a long time from the beginning of the process to the end, it may be messy as far as the actual work, but you will be very satisfied with the quality of the work and all of the guys doing the work.Just so you know, it took us over 2 years from the beginning to the end because of the time to do the soils engineering study, drawing up and revising the plans, getting the permit (took more than a year), scheduling, and actually doing the work. The actual work I think took about 5 weeks of working every weekday from morning till afternoon. Everyone was great from the President of the company, Damien Enright, to the soils and project engineers, to the foremen, and all of the workers. They were all really friendly, courteous, respected me when I was watching and had questions or had complaints, needed extra work done, and so on. They cleaned up after themselves everyday, worked really hard, did great work, and were all what you want when you are paying a lot of money to have work done for you.I especially liked working with the owner Damien Enright, foreman Joe Groaning, project engineer Antonio Manuel, and project coordinator Lydia Manners. They were all great but my favorite was foreman Joe Groaning. He was just the best!!!Thanks, Structural Systems Hawaii

We live in Hahaione Valley. Our home was cracking apart on a hill due to an underwater stream. This company felt different from the first moment of meeting Damien. The team was exceptional throughout the entire process, from the first to our last meeting! They cared about our house and also about our well-being. They continually communicated throughout the process to ensure we made informed decisions about our home. In addition, I am a business owner and was impressed to see each worker come to work with a smile. I could see and feel great pride, quality, and joy in their work. Each day, they cleaned up after themselves (for four months)! They cared about our house, and it reflected daily. It was a considerable experience for our family, but we felt safe knowing they were looking out for our best interests. It has been almost a year, and our home is very secure. We are delighted with our decision to hire Structural Systems and would like to thank the fantastic team who cared for us.

I noticed how much my house was sloping beyond what Google said was the normal range. I do not have a deep understanding of engineering or home construction, and so I grew concerned. I reached out to 3 different companies, detailing my concerns. Damien from SSI was the only one who responded and followed up with me. He was very kind and patient. We spoke on the phone, I then texted some pictures of the house at his request. He gave me the option of an analysis he could perform to determine what was causing the sloping, if it was anything beyond natural settling. But he also said that nothing I told or showed him screamed that this was a big problem, and that it may make more sense to wait on doing this expensive analysis until more concerning signs appear. After a short discussion, where he patiently and clearly answered my questions, I decided not to move forward with the analysis at this time. He told me what signs to look out for, and I will give him a call if any of those signs appear.I appreciated the amount of time he spent with me, the explanations he gave, as well as the kindness with which he gave them. He could have easily pressured me into an expensive analysis that I didn't need, but he didn't. I value this integrity and feel confident that if I would be in good hands if I ever did need his services. Also, I value his "bedside manner" so to speak-- he didn't make me feel bad about not understanding house construction/engineering, but rather took the time to explain things to me like an intelligent adult. This was so refreshing considering that many interactions I've had in the past with contractors who have talked down to me like an idiot woman who couldn't possibly understand.I highly recommend Damien from SSI for his professionalism, ability to clearly communicate, and integrity. Thanks Damien!

Structural Systems Inc. did an excellent job is stabilizing my home. From start to finish, they provided great service and the professionalism of Damien, President of SSI and his crew is unbeatable. The back fill that was used on the retaining wall in the back of my home started to settle causing the foundation of my house to shift. During the initial assessment meeting, Damien explained what was happening to the house, physically showed me the areas of concern, and explained what steps he was planned to take to strengthen the foundation. After the soil analysis was completed, he presented us with a comprehensive plan of action to stabilize the foundation and explained what type of materials would be used in the process. The work crew was very polite and friendly. The office staff was also helpful. I was especially pleased with the service provided by Damien and the rest of Structural Systems in responding to my concerns and needs.
